Prayer of Intercession

Regina Chan

Dear Lord,

Thank you for giving us an opportunity to gather together in Your house and worship You.

When we are worrying about our life situation and bearing our burden, we come to You.

For the world, we remember people who do not live in peace due to war or political unrest, especially the people living in Syria. Lord, please bring them peace and comfort.

We also pray for the world-wide food safety problem. We remember the patients of the contaminated farm produce in Europe. We pray for their fast recovery and the end of the epidemic.

Lord, please make farmers and food manufactures, especially those in Taiwan and China, understand the importance of food safety and not seek their material reward at the expense of the public health.

We also pray for the Chinese government. Please grant them wisdom to solve pressing social problems of China, such as corruption, food safety and the disparity between the rich and the poor. Please make the Chinese government and the party to be more open-minded to listen to the appeal of her people and respect their human rights.

Lord, we pray for all the people who are living in Hong Kong. We are concerned about the problems happening around us, such as inflation, domestic violence and the new national education curriculum. We pray for the government officials and administrators. May you grant them wisdom to formulate measures and policies to handle the problems well.

In our church, we pray for the participation and commitment of the congregation.

We pray that the renovation project can go ahead smoothly in the direction You guide us so that KUC can develop our new ministry and better serve the community and our neighbors.

We also pray for those who are working hard for their examinations. May God give them wisdom and health.

Lord, please remember our friends who are sick or physically weak, and those who are unable to attend the service. We pray for them as we say their name aloud or in silence.

In the Ecumenical Prayer Cycle, we pray for the people and churches of Brazil.

Lord, thanks for listening to our prayer. Amen.

Now, let’s say the Lord’s prayer together. You may pray in your own language.

Our Father in heaven. Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are Yours now and forever. Amen.

World Peace
Our heavenly father, we pray for peace in this world. We pray that you will bless the leaders of this world with wisdom and intelligence that they will know how to resolve conflict with negotiations and mediations and not to resort to war to settle dispute.

The Hurricanes that have swept through the US Mid West in Missouri and Oklahoma has killed more than 125 people and 1,500 are still missing. We pray for the victims of this disaster and for those who have lost love ones. We pray for those who are suffering and that they will be able to get back to their normal lives again.

We pray for human rights in China. The right of the people to express their opinion freely is in the Constitution of China. Premier Wen Jiabao has said that he would like to see more democracy in China and that every citizen should have the right to criticize the government.

However human rights activists and dissidents are being arrested and are under constant surveillance for speaking out the truth. Reforms in the political arena has not caught up with reforms in the country's economy. We pray for a more democratic China.

This Saturday is June 4, it is the 22nd anniversary of the crackdown on the Student democracy in Tienanmen Square. These students were protesting for more democracy and for the authorities to look into corruption is high places. Today the Chinese government has admitted that corruption is a problem in the country. We pray that there will be a reversal of judgement for those who had been killed in Tienanmen Square.

We pray for the health of senior members, Helen Tan, Bishop and Mrs. Samuel, Rev. and Mrs.Tan. We pray for members who have problems in their lives, let them find peace in you Lord. May the Holy Spirit come into their lives and guide them, we pray that they will find the answer in you. Give them your love and may they find peace of mind.

To be an active Church we need volunteers to help carry out our activities. Touch the hearts and soul of our members so that they would be encouraged to do their part for the Church. May our members be pro-active and step forward to help make our Church an active Church.

Amen
