Prayer of Intercession

Shirin Samuel

1. Prayer is the window to see the face of Jesus. When you are face to face with Him, pray for the sick (Dr. Helen, Simeon) and others you know. Pray for the deprived of their freedom, suffering in the war zone like in Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Yemen. Pray for the wounded, who lost life, some are made refugees, orphans, widows. Some in their agony are asking for water food and home. Pray for the children, youth, their parents and teachers of KUC family that our children and youth may constantly mature gracefully to give honor to humanity. Pray for Rev. Phyllis Wong for her travels. Pray for Rev. Maggie Matheson and all her co-workers who work for the growth of our spiritual life. We pray for the progress, prosperity and peace of Hon Kong.

2. Singapore bid farewell to its founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, who died on March 23rd, aged 91. Despite torrential rain, tens of thousands lined the streets to view the funeral procession carrying Mr. Lee's coffin through the city-state. A state funeral was attended by world leaders, ahead of a private family cremation ceremony. In his eulogy, Mr. Lee's son, the current Prime Minister Lee Shein Loong, said his father had "lived and breathed Singapore all his life". "The light that has guided us all these years has been extinguished." He said that Singapore he helped build is his monument. We pray that the people of Singapore continue remembering, practicing and respecting him as the giant of the times.  His wisdom and forward- looking vision, great perseverance, strong leadership and concern for the people of Singapore transformed Singapore from a trading port into a prosperous country, from the third world country into a first world country. We pray that his soul may rest in peace.

“Weep with those who weep.” Romans 12: 15.

3. German wings flight 4U 9525 crashed in the French Alps killing all 150 on board. The cockpit voice recorder suggested that the co-pilot Andreas Lubitz crashed the plane deliberately. It is suspected that he had retina detachment problem and “suicidal tendencies revealed.” Among those who are killed there were 16 students and two teachers from one school. We mourn their death, the hope of the country and family. This incident has left their families with a tragic memory and grief never to be forgotten. We pray for God’s comfort and solace and strength to endure their pain.  An official memorial service for those on board flight 4U 9525 from Barcelona to Düsseldorf will be held on 17th April in Germany's most famous Church - Cologne Cathedral - in the presence of President Joachim Gauck and Chancellor Angela Merkel.

4. Nuclear talks between six world powers and Iran will continue into Wednesday. Spokeswoman Marie Harf added that "several difficult issues" still remained. World powers want to restrict Iran's nuclear program in return for relief from crippling sanctions. Pray for peaceful solution for this huge issue that concerns the whole world.

5. A 44- year old mother of three daughters named Lam was killed in a Minibus flying wheel accident on 30th March. She was rushed to the hospital but her family received the saddest news of her departure from this life. Let us remember the bereaved family in our prayers.

We wish everyone to reflect, meditate and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ with the people of faith in Jesus Chris. Happy Easter.
