Let us pray…

1)  Dear Heavenly Father, we give you thanks for our Wai Ji Sunday.
We are so blessed to be able to gather together with our sisters and brothers once again to worship you during this pandemic moment; talk to you and listen to your word after a busy week of study or work.

2)  Father, We give you thanks for your guidance all these years for Wai Ji.
With your Love and Care, You have provided us dedicated staff & volunteers AND with their tremendous contribution, we have good development and also the ability to provide for the people in need.

3)  Father, We pray for our different services provided at WJ, especially Our Professional Outreaching Team for Private Residential Care Homes (POTs) & our Parents Resource Centre (PRC) to serve not only our service users but also the parents, and the caretakers who are in need of support during this difficult time.

4)  Father, there are many people facing difficulties and challenges during the coronavirus pandemic. The lockdown has increased people's fear of isolation and many are worried they will not get the correct treatment if they become ill. May God show love and kindness to them. We also pray that charities and NGOs which serve those with disabilities take courage and keep asking the government to provide more assistance to the vulnerable.

Father, we pray for HK, we pray for our government and leaders in HK, may God give them wisdom and a faithful heart to protect the citizens in HK, we also remember those who lost their freedom in order to protect our civil rights. May God give Strength and Peace to them and to their families during this critical moment.

Prayer of Intercession
Sunday, 7 June 2020
First Sunday after Pentecost
Prepared and led by Robert Lam

Lord, help us to see you in the torrential rains this morning, water for the plants and animals and water to revive our wilted spirits in a dry land.

Lord, we live in a world faced with pandemic, climate change and social injustices and we pray for your help and guidance.

The coronavirus has been with us for half a year already and more than 6 million people have been infected worldwide and more than 390,000 lives have been lost. We continue to pray for the frontline workers working tirelessly to keep the outbreak under control. We give thanks to them for their care and attention to the dying patients and providing comfort and communication with their family members.

We pray and give thanks to the many who are recovering from the virus. May you Lord, restore their health and may you provide strength and care to their family members looking after them.  We pray for the work of WHO that it may be free from politics.

We pray for an early release of vaccines. We give thanks to the scientists who have worked hard in developing these vaccines. We pray that the countries developing these vaccines will make them easily available to all parts of the world, particularly the poor countries. We pray for Governments deciding on policies of lockdown vs reopening of the economy. Lord, we ask that you give them wisdom to do what is right and best for the well-being and health of the people.

We pray for our planet Earth with its climate change and global warming. We remember the severe weather conditions in many parts of the world causing destruction, hardship and suffering. We remember the invasion of locusts to parts of Asia and in India and Pakistan. We give thanks to the work of many Governments and NGO organizations dedicated to save the planet. Lord, we ask that you prosper their work, strengthen their resolve in spite of lack of support and financial commitment.

We pray for new ways in the construction of buildings, that they may be Zero-carbon or Carbon-neutral, resulting in reduction of CO2 footprint and in the increased use of alternative clean energy in the running and maintenance of our buildings and transportation systems.

We pray for social injustices wherever they are in our world today: the profiling and treatment of people because of their race, gender and beliefs.

We pray for KUC and those facing health challenges, particularly Connie’s grandmom and our sister Lucy.

In the ecumenical cycle of prayer, we remember the people and churches of Botswana and Zimbabwe, praying for fair and stable government; for churches that continue to serve and to care for the people; to promote justice and to be humble before you.

We pray in the name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, Amen.
