Almighty God,
We thank you this morning for what you have taught us. We are sure that you are amidst us and your promise of hearing our prayers.
We pray for the world:
· We commemorate the day 10th December which is dedicated as International Human Rights Day. We remember those who suffer from human rights abuses around the world. We pray for people who are jailed and oppressed because they assert their basic human rights to seek freedom and democracy. May your Holy Spirit strengthen human rights activists and keep their faith strong in order to bring about a better world rooted in justice and peace; human rights will be found over the world. May your love and justice inspire all governments in the world to treat all human beings equally and with dignity regardless of one’s political opinion, sex, sexual orientation, race, and social status.
· We pray for the euro zone debt crisis in European countries. Dear God, please help the leaders of the nations to lay out a plan to anchor a better budget so as to restore market trust and control the debt crisis in the euro area.
· We pray for those nations of which the governments are against Christianity. Please grant the spirit of wisdom, charity and justice to those who hold office in the government. Please guide them to know you and teach them about your righteousness so that they may implement your teaching and serve faithfully in their office.
We pray for Hong Kong:
· We pray for giving wisdom to the government wisdom in planning a long-term housing policy to make property prices reasonable and affordable to satisfy people’s basic need for a roof over their heads.
We pray for our congregation:
· Dear God, we give you thanks for the Development Bureau’s granting the church conditional approval for funds of HK$1 million for maintenance of the church. We also thank our sisters and brothers who have been working hard on this application.
· We pray for the health and well-being of our senior members and those who are sick and ill. May God bless them and keep them in your care.
· We also remember those who for some reasons have been absent from us. Lord, please guide their ways wherever they are so that they can always come to the throne of your grace.
In the Ecumenical Prayer Cycle, we pray for the people and churches of Benin, Côte d'Ivoire, and Togo. Dear Heavenly Father, please strengthen the faith of the churches and people in these western African countries. Please see their troubles and pain their ministries, relieve them of their fears and fill their hearts with joy and thanksgiving. May your gospel be spread to every corner of these countries.
Now, we complete today’s prayer for the people by saying the Lord’s prayer together.
