James 4:8come near to God and he will come near to you”

Gracious God, we come to you with grateful hearts bringing our burdens and care to seek not only your face but also to seek your loving hands

We give you thanks Lord for the lives of the brothers and sisters who have the privilege to worship you today and we pray for those who couldn’t make it. We remember especial those who are sick physically, Siamon and Helen Tan, may the life of your river fall on them.

We pray also for those who are spiritually sick, Lord may the truth of your kingdom reigns in them for the glory of the living God to be revealed.

Sovereign God, You gave to us so many gifts and talents so that we may take care of the earth, things in it and people around us; but so many times we use them for our own profits.

As we pray, Lord may the weight of power covers all the Leaders of Nations and States in order for them to respect the Lives and Rights of your beloved Children.

Tomorrow is the International Human Right Day, let us remember those who are oppressed, those who are not able to enjoy their basic freedom and dignity. Lord, pour your Justice and Peace on the people of Syria, Egypt, Burma, Myanmar and China.

We ask you to fortify and support all the Human Rights Activists, we pray especially for Liu Xiao-Bo and his wife to be released as soon as possible.

During this time of prayer, we remember people who have been affected by the typhoon Bopha. Lord may you reveal yourself to the people of the Philippines, comfort those who lost their beloved ones and give hope to the victims during this time of crises.

As we continue to pray, Lord, we offer you Hong Kong under C Y Leung leaderships as he is about to give the Policy address and Annual Budget. Grant him and his Government the Knowledge and wisdom to serve Hong Kong with Integrity and Justice.

For our congregation, we pray for those who are going to join their families and relatives to celebrate Christmas. Lord, may you bless their journey and bless the time they will spend with their beloved ones.

We pray also for thosewho are far from their families and cannot join them for different reasons. May the loving support and God’s presence cover them especially those in our KUC community.

We pray also for the safety of the workers at KUC’s Manse roof and the MG room.

In the Ecumenical Prayer Cycle, we pray for the people and Churches in Cape Verde, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau and Senegal. Amen.

Prayer of Intercession

Gabi Baumgartner

Lord, thank you for bringing us together here in this church.

We come here today to praise you, to feel your presence and your call - and we are here to unite and pray for those who need you most:

God, we pray for your presence
… in Egypt, who is in the process of working out a new constitution, we pray that the rights of the minorities will be respected.
… in Palestine. Thanks for the recognition that the Palestinians have received in the past week, we pray that this will be the beginning of reconciliation and not the hardening of relationships.
… in the heart of all leaders of this world, may your love reach the hearts of those who promised to lead, may your priorities guide them when they set theirs.
… in the African countries Liberia and Sierra Leone, for whom we pray in the Ecumenical Prayer Cycle of today.

God, we pray for wisdom
… for those who find themselves in impossible situations, inspire them and show them their path.
… for those who have the courage to stand up and address the greed, the injustice and destruction among us. Give them the wisdom needed to choose their words and the moment they say them wisely.

God, we pray for confidence
for those who believe they have no voice, no chance and no luck in live, show them that they are not alone and that they too have a voice, a chance and luck in live.

God, we ask for security
for all people who live in fear, especially children, elderly and all who feel weak and vulnerable.

God, we pray for healing
to those who are ill or insured. Give them strength to recover.

In our congregation we ask for your holy spirit to nurture and guide us so that we in turn are able to support each other.

We pray for all those in this congregation who prepare themselves to serve in different ministries, bless and enthuse them for the benefit of all.

We pray for all in our congregation who need your love and healing hand.

Last but not least we pray for joy: God, lift the hearts of everyone, take away burdens and sadness and give us a taste of the joy we feel through you and with you.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
