Prayer of Intercession
Sunday, 20 October, 2013
Ramon Bultron

God of everlasting love, you generously provide all things for us.

We pray for people everywhere: make your way known to them, your saving power among all nations especially we pray and mourn the death and destruction in Cebu, Bohol and other neighboring Visayan Islands in the Philippines brought about by a strong earthquake which accounted for the lost of hundreds of lives and cost billions of damages to properties and the loss of many valuable aged-old historical Christian places of worship.

We pray for the communities affected. May they come together in solidarity to rebuild and to affirm new life amid the disasters and sufferings in life.

We pray for the people of Japan especially those affected by the recent typhoon Wipha. May those victims of typhoon Wipha find immediate relief and the souls of those lost in the tragedy find peace.

We also pray for the people of New South Wales especially for those who experienced severe wildfires that destroyed many homes and caused damages to the environment. Oh God, we pray that those who lost their homes find shelter and their immediate needs be provided.

May your hand lay upon them through the holy spirit especially in this traumatic time. May they experience your healing in their spirits as well as in their bodies.

We also pray for the souls of the 49 passengers who died in a plane crash in Laos. May their souls rest in peace.

We also pray for the migrants in Russia as they currently experience tension as well as other migrants in other parts of World.

Oh God, Come, open us to the wonder, beauty, and dignity of the diversity found in each culture, in each face, and in each experience we have of the other among us. Come, fill us with generosity as we are challenged to let go and allow others to share with us the goods and beauty of your creation.

Oh God, we also pray for our members of the congregation and friends who are sick and unwell. Specifically, we pray for Sandy, Jenny, Saimon and his family. May your hands lay upon them so that they will be cured and be able to walk with you and serve you and your glorious name.

We also pray for Jelita for her safe delivery of her second baby. We pray that you bless both of them for their safety and immediate recovery.

We also pray for the success of the 10th Assembly of the World Council of Churches to be held in Busan, Republic of Korea. May the WCC assembly inspire the community of faith to continue with their journey for justice and peace in this world.

We also pray for genuine democracy for the people of Hong Kong. May the people of Hong Kong continue to find hope for democratic participation and more transparency in government undertakings.

Oh God of hope and Father of mercy, your Holy Spirit inspires us to look beyond ourselves and our own needs. Inspire leaders to choose peace over violence and to seek reconciliation with enemies.

In the Ecumenical Prayer Cycle, we pray for the people and churches of India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Inspire the Church around the world with compassion and fill us with hope for a future of peace built on justice for all.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, Prince of Peace and Light of the World, who lives and reigns forever and ever.

Amen.

Prayer of Intercession
Sunday, 13 October, 2013
Sunita Suna

God we remember the people in Odisha and Andhra in India who are affected by the severe cyclone Phailin. We pray for the safety of all people, and especially the government officials, rescue operation who are doing the relief work.

We  remember the immigrants who died recently and also  those hundreds of  immigrants who died last week when the boat sank on their way to Lampedusa. Console the bereaved families as their hopes become bleak. God help the world leaders to come up with solutions to protect lives of the people who are migrating to another country to escape from war, violence persecution and poverty with a hope to survive in a foreign land.

God, yet again we observe the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty this year, help us to be more conscious and critical about the increasing rate of poverty day by day. We also pray for the world leaders to make this as their priority to tackle the issue of poverty. God we have received the resources in abundance, but still millions of people live in abject poverty due to unequal distribution of resources. Help us to be a sharing community. God we also pray to strengthen the people, groups, communities, who are working to eradicate poverty.

God we  pray for the world leaders of the APEC summit who gathered in Indonesia to discuss on economic cooperation with Asia Pacific. God help the leaders to work on partnership based on a just and fair economic growth for all and reject any kind of economic growth at the cost of forced migration, exploitation of natural resources, war and violence.

God we also pray for the people who are living in fear of the leakage in the Fukushima nuclear plant.  May the Japan government take extra measures to protect them as well as the environment and the whole eco - system. The world has witnessed that human intelligence is not enough to cope up situation like this. God may you help us to learn lesson from the present situation of the Fukushima disaster and guide us to use alternative sustainable energy for the safety of humans, and the environment.

God we pray for the global Christain faith community who are preparing to come to Busan Korea for the 10th WCC assembly end of this month.
May this assembly be a space to bring diverse wisdom, experiences, challenges, hopes and aspirations of all the people of the world. May this be a place of worshiping and praying together to God with humility.   The diversity of this assembly be an opportunity to celebrate the differences, gifts, talents of all. May this assembly be guided by your wisdom  to come up with strong faith affirmation with action plans to engage in transforming this world a better place where everyone experience life in abundance. May the prayer “God of Life, Lead us to Justice and Peace” be translated into praxis.
In the Ecumenical prayer cycle we pray for the people and churches of Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal

God we also pray for the people in Hong Kong and the people in mainland to create an environment of peace and tranquillity to cope up with each other.

God we continue to pray for the political leaders, and decision makers of Hong Kong to take genuine initiatives to implement universal suffrage. We pray for these leaders, as they have the power to bring positive changes in policies and laws to deal with the widening gap between the rich and the poor, to genuinely address the housing problem of common people in HK. Grant these leaders your wisdom oh God, so that they will recognize the inequality, and unjust system in HK which is depriving many people  to live a decent and dignified life

God we pray for Saimon, who is under chemo treatment. May your healing power do miracle to cure Saimon completely and especially at this time we pray to you to grant him a strong spirit to face this challenge and overcome them.

God we uphold Jelita in our prayer as she prepares to give birth end of this month. Give her the strength, courage, and faith for a safe delivery of a new life to this world and particularly to our community.

We ask these prayers in the name of Jesus Christ, our friend, and liberator. Amen.
