After each prayer item, I will say God, in your mercy,
congregation please respond by hear our
prayer.
God of love and
compassion,
We seek your divine presence and blessing in places where
your people are suffering from natural disasters. We remember people who have
lost their lives, their homes and their beloved ones in India, Bangladesh, Nepal and China due to
flooding and landslides in the past months. Pray for strength to the
governments and humanitarian organizations in their course of actions in
helping the victims.
We
pray also for the people especially the poor who have been affected by the heat
wave in Europe.
Strengthen
your people to bear your image and to share your love with each other.
God, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
God of justice and peace,
We pray for places where oppression and
violence are prevalent. We pray that all human beings’ dignity will be upheld.
We pray that all government should use their power to care and serve their
people but not for their own interest.
In midst of the political crisis in Hong Kong, we pray for your gracious
presence to the people and society. We pray for a peaceful protest organized by
the Civil Human Rights Front to express the people’s demands to the government
in this afternoon. Grant to everyone in the city a heart of peace and
conscience like you Oh God.
Empower your church to be dedicated to works and words of
justice in a world of pain and anger. Strengthen your people to be peacemakers
to bring love instead of hatred.
God, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
God of unity and reconciliation,
We uplift our
concerns and sadness for the increasingly divided and broken society of Hong
Kong. We pray for healing, forgiveness and reconciliation.
We pray for freedom to give
from deep within, to bear one another’s stories and burdens with respect and
dignity. Give to your people ears and hearts to listen and understand. Help everyone
to laugh and cry and travel together into new realities of hope and renewal.
Lord, in your mercy. Hear
our prayer.
God of community,
From
the ecumenical community, we lift up our prayers today for the people and
churches of Liberia and Sierra Leone. We pray for the well-being of the people especially
those who have been affected by the disease of Ebola and those who live in
poverty. We pray for the government especially the democratically-elected leaders to
serve their people and countries with law and order, check and balance so as to
reduce corruption and people are able to share the resources more equally. We
pray also different ethnic and religious groups live together in peace and
harmony in these countries.
In KUC, we remember sisters
and brothers who are going through health and other life challenges. We pray
for Ramon’s recovery. We remember Pearl’s sister and Regina’s mother. May God
heal and give strength and peace in their time of trials. We rejoice with Lucy
for her good progress of recovery and give thanks to God for their grace to
all.
May you continue to empower
the community of faith, your Church to be Christ’s faithful witness. Give them
courage to stand firm in the midst of division for your sake and for your
Kingdom.
God, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
To conclude our prayers, let us pray as Jesus Christ has
taught his disciples. You are welcome to pray in your preferred language.
Our Father
in heaven…
