Prayer of Intercession
Sunday, 29 September, 2019
Prepared and led by Chris Wong

Dear Lord, we have sinned against you from generation to generation. We are easy to be complacent with self-indulgence, love of money and even ignorance when others are suffering.

We come to you to repent of our sins and offer now to You our prayers for others.

Our mother nature has given so much to nourish our lives. However, we fail to manage our land and have made so much destruction to the natural environment because of our selfishness.

Recent natural disasters have taken thousands of lives away from their beloved. The ones who remain become homeless and hopeless.

God of nature, be merciful to us. You are our only refuge; in the shadow of your wings, we will take refuge, until the destroying storms pass by.

We pray for those who are affected by natural disasters can be rescued and be able to rebuild their homes as soon as possible.

For those who have lost loved ones, we pray for God to comfort them and send all the love to heal their broken hearts and souls.

God of justice, we pray for all the political unrest, wars within one nation, and wars among countries. you told us when we cry for help, you will hear, and rescue us from all our troubles.

You are near to the broken-hearted and save the crushed in spirit. We now cry for your help to stop those who are abusing their power to suppress their people. We pray that peace will come to the world.

For the oppressed ones, we pray for the protection of their lives.

God of love, the protests against the extradition bill in Hong Kong that have transformed into a massive movement fighting for civil rights have continued for over 110 days.

We are all heartbroken because we love this place. Hong Kong is our home. We cry out for your mercy, Lord. May you strengthen our faith and belief that justice and peace will be restored.

In the time of challenge, we should remember that we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed;

perplexed, but not driven to despair;

persecuted, but not forsaken;

struck down, but not destroyed;

always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be made visible in our lives.

For the Ecumenical Prayer Cycle
● We lift up our prayers for the people and churches of Colombia,
Ecuador and Venezuela.
● We pray for an end to the corruption in these societies, and to unsustainable exploitation of their resources.
● We pray for the continued pursuit of peace in Colombia, the fulfilment of agreements reached, the reintegration of insurgents into society, broad and inclusive dialogue for justice, and fair compensation of those victimized by conflict.
For the Congregation
● Wai Ji Christian Service, established by KUC in 1979, held their 40th anniversary  Thanksgiving Service last Saturday. Pray that they continue to be light of Christ to serve the mentally challenged people in Hong Kong.
●  We continue to pray for the preparations for KUC’s 95th-anniversary thanksgiving service.
● We continue to pray for those who are seeking comfort and healing from physical pain and illness. Remember Joy Camo and Jade at this time of uncertainty. We remember Pearl and all those who care for sick loved ones and accompany them in their struggles.

Lord, we believe that You are the One who saves and heals and so we leave those in need of your healing in your loving care.

You will redeem the life of Your servants; none of those who take refuge in You will be condemned.

These and all our prayers we leave with you Lord, knowing you have heard all that has been said, the spoken and the silent words of our hearts and we thank you, Lord.

May we now join in one voice to pray the Lord’s prayer. You may pray in your own language.
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory
are yours now and for ever.
Amen.
