Prayer of Intercession

23 August 2026

Prepared by Emmanuel Adesina

Sunday in Ordinary Time

Our Redeemer, we humbly submit ourselves to You, trusting in the perfection of Your divine plan. We express our gratitude for Your goodness, love, and blessings. We thank You for inspiring hope during our most challenging times and empowering us for the journeys ahead. We acknowledge Your mercy, grace, and the sacrifice You made for our liberation and life.

Please forgive us if we don't thank You enough for who You are, for all You do, and for all You've given us. We need You today and every day. Breathe Your Holy Spirit into our lives, fill us with Your peace and joy, and inspire our days and our gatherings with hope. We praise and thank You, for You are worthy of all our worship.

Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayers.

God of Love, thank You for creating humanity and welcoming us into a compassionate and united family. We are grateful for Your daily blessings that empower us to be peacemakers and to see everyone as brothers and sisters in Christ. Please replace hatred with the fruits of the Spirit and guide us. Lord, unite our hearts; remove division and pride. Teach us to love sincerely, remain patient, and honour Your name with a collective voice of faith.

Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayers.

Heavenly Father, we come together with faith to lift up everyone who is sick, anxious, or facing unfair situations. We humbly ask for Your healing, peace, justice, and comforting presence to surround each person in need. We hold close to our hearts those who might have lost hope because of life's tough challenges or feeling unloved. Lord, we pray that You meet all their needs generously and show them the better future You have ahead for them.

Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayers.

We lift up our concerns for everyone affected by oppressive leadership policies, tragic atrocities, and injustices that impact their lives. We pray You kindly meet each person's needs where they are. God of peace, please neutralise the tools the enemy uses to disturb global harmony, causing suffering and harm to Your creations. Lord, hear the cries of those displaced and struggling with hunger and scarcity due to these heartbreaking circumstances. We pray for understanding, harmony, and lasting peace among all nations.

Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayers.

Almighty God, we humbly ask for Your blessing on Your Church. As the builder and sustainer of our faith, strengthen those believers who face persecution for Your name, and fill them with Your resilient Spirit. Help them to serve with joy as they proclaim the Gospel in hostile places. Help us to be among those willing to build Your glorious kingdom, for the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. We pray for growth, comfort, and peace for Your Church around the world. Help us to commit more fully to Your work and to serve You diligently in every part of our lives.

Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayers.

Rock of Ages, we hold all true believers in our hearts and prayers right now. Please help straighten any difficult paths and guide them with divine wisdom, so their daily efforts are blessed.

As we begin this new week, guide our actions, help us be a blessing to others, and enable us to be fruitful like the tree planted by the rivers of water, which brings forth its fruit in due season.

Lord, please graciously answer our prayer requests today in Jesus' name. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer in unison.
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

Prayer of Intercession

2 August 2026

Prepared by Victoria Caplan

Sunday in Ordinary Time

In the power of the Spirit and in union with Christ, let us pray to the Father.  As we pray, after I say, “God in your mercy”, please respond, “Hear our prayer.”

Almighty Loving God, our light & our salvation.
We rejoice in being your children,

Help us all to feel confident and strong in your love, to help us make good judgements, followed by good action.

God, in your mercy
hear our prayer.

Almighty Creator God
Thank you for the beautiful world you made and sustain: the fruitful earth, the clean air & pure water.

But your creation suffers from what we do singly and collectively. By our foolishness, greed, and unjust systems, we turn your abundance into scarcity, poison, and disasters: storms, drought, fires, and floods.

In particular we pray for safety and comfort for the millions in our region suffering from typhoons and flooding rains, while people elsewhere are suffering from prolonged heat waves and dangerous wildfires.

As fellow workers in your creation, give us and our leaders wisdom and reverence to care for your world properly and heal it.

God, in your mercy
hear our prayer.

Complete and Perfect God
Help us to step back and take the long view. Help us to understand that your Kingdom is not only beyond our efforts; it is even beyond our vision.

Help us understand that nothing we do is complete and that we can’t do everything. Help us feel that as liberation, part of being your children who you love unconditionally.

Help us do what we can, where we can: imperfect, but a beginning, a step along the way, a chance for your grace to enter and do the rest.

God, in your mercy
hear our prayer.

Life Giving Spirit, God of Peace
We pray for everywhere there is fighting and war. We pray for people who lack safety inside or outside their homes. Heal their physical, mental, and spiritual wounds.

Direct our families, our communities, and every nation, in the ways of kindness, justice and peace; that we may honour one another and seek the common good.

God, in your mercy
hear our prayer.

Healer and companion of all who suffer in body, mind, or spirit:
Look after people in fear, danger, sorrow, or any kind of trouble: the sick, the lonely, the abused, the addicted, the grieving, the homeless, the imprisoned, the poor, refugees, victims of disasters, and people who see no path forward to safety and stability.

Strengthen them in their hours of need. Give them courage and hope in their troubles; relieve and protect them and bring them the joy of your salvation.

In particular, we pray Pray for Kevin Ng, Jeanette Lee, Hend, Marina, Ng Kam Lee, Raymond Lau, Joy Babasa, Rose Chue, Doris Lee, Mercy Matilda, Esther Bangcawayan, Ajmal Samuel, and Little Kei Kei.

We continue to remember our senior members and friends Revd. Kwok, Mrs. Samuel, and the mothers of June Tang and Tong Chong Sze.

God, in your mercy
hear our prayer.

Triune God, who we meet in community:
Thank you for our Kowloon Union Church family, the Christian community in Hong Kong and throughout the world.   We pray for KUC members starting new journeys as autumn approaches. In particular for Katie who will start her studies in Europe soon.

God, in your mercy
hear our prayer.

For the Ecumenical Prayer Cycle:
We lift in prayer the churches and people of all faiths in Congo, Gabon, Sao Tome and Principe.
God, in your mercy
hear our prayer.

Rejoicing in the fellowship of all your saints, we commend ourselves and the whole creation to your unfailing love.

Amen.
